Top-of-the-line reptile for expert keepers. These monitor lizards can reach lengths of up to 3.8 meters (8 feet), weigh 40+ pounds, and can live up to 30 years (10-15 being average). They are diurnal, with excellent eyesight, quick reflexes, and a powerful bite. With proper care and knowledge, they tame down well along with their impressive physique becoming manageable. Due to their large size, they do require a MINIMUM 10x12 feet enclosure with a great amount of climbing and swimming space. High humidity and temperatures (80°F on the cooler end of the enclosure and 90°F on the warmer end of the enclosure) alongside a basking spot with ample UVB is necessary (ideal basking spot of 95-100°F and 5.0 UVB).
