Here you will find our most diverse collection of geckos from around the world. There are about 1500 known species of geckos and they are found on every continent except Antarctica.

One of the things that makes geckos unique from other lizards is that they pretty much all have the ability to vocalize. These vocalizations can range from an odd cackling sound to a raspy hiss and can be used as mating calls, territorial calls and as intimidation against predators.

Geckos range in size from less than an inch in length to over seventh inches in the case of the New Caledonian Giant Gecko.

They can occur in all warm habitats from caves to rainforest canopies to scrubland and desert. Most gecko species are insectivorous but many tropical species will also eat fruit and nectar as part of their diet.
